Good sock. LOUSY packaging.
Best sock for the money. I would say these are medium weight not heavy. I absolutely hate the little plastic strips that are used, I assume, to hold the socks together inside the outer wrapper. There really isn't any reason to use them. They are extremely difficult to remove especially to those of us was poor eyesight and arthritic hands. You have to cut them to start removing them and then work the strip out of the fabric which, more times than not, causes a snag or loose thread in the area it came out of. So your brand new socks are damaged before you even wear them for the first time.

Marks of my husbands feet gone!
Bought these for my husband. Steel toe boots were leaving red marks all over his feet. Buying these socks for him has offered comfort to him and the marks on his feet have diminished greatly.

Fifteen year customer
I have been wearing Dickies sock for 15 years. When I started they were hands down the best socks available at an affordable price. They mostly still are but that's only because so so many socks are just plain lousy in one way or another. I prefer a heavyweight sock which is the main reason I chose Dickies 15 years ago. Their socks were easily the thickest everyday socks available. They lasted at least a year and stayed up fairly well. As the years went by the thickness and how well they stay up both went downhill. This latest purchase was to replace socks that didn't even last six month's before they start having holes in the heels. Also how well they stay up is not as good as 15 years ago. I imagine, like all manufactured products, the manufacturer looks for ways to reduce production cost which of course leads to a poorer version of the original product. I do not know what the fabric mix was in the socks from 15 years ago so I cannot compare to the current version. But I do know the weight and performance of them is not as good as when I first started using them. One thing I learned along the way was to not put them in the dryer. Machine drying makes them shrink and wear out faster. Fifteen years ago I would have given these five stars for sure. The three I gave them today is a reflection of what the quality has become. While Dickies socks are still better than most others in the same price range the level of "betterness" is not what it used to be.
